With each The Soulƒood pop up comes the challenge of finding a unique space in each city we feature. This year’s The Soulƒood Montreal was hosted by the world acclaimed creative collective: Les 7 Doigts in the dedicated exhibition space inside their recently renovated headquarters . This space is spectacular for many different reasons; the architecture is outstanding but so is the mission of this new space: to provide world class rehearsal and creation spaces for their artists. While we were there, the creation Unikkaaqtuat was under production and we had the privilege to be present at the dress rehearsal.
This year’s artists were from Montreal, Toronto and Paris. Thank you to Rachel Albano, Philippe Allard, Heather Ball, Maciek Balmas, Elmyna Bouchard, Pierre Choinière, CSRK/MORT, Liv Eden, Tim Elliott, Kathleen Finlay, Sonia Haberstich, Robert Hamilton, Jeffares-Prout, Frédérick Ouellet, RGB Collective, Joël Roche, Christo Saba, Caroline Savaria, Martin Schop, Thierry Séguin, Kristin Sjaarda, Verona Sorensen, Evridiki Spiliadis, Franck Turzo, Theo Willemse.
We shared the space with our ceramic partner from last year’s event Keramikon’s Angeliki Kounenidaki. Our collection was an eclectic mix of ceramic, photography, painting, metal work, sculpture, digital collage and digital art of both emerging and established artists. We also introduced new works to our collection of affordable high quality archival reproductions.
Once again, there is such a special vibe to bringing together so many interesting artists and introducing them to collectors. A special thank you goes to Marion Bellin and Danièle Lavoie at Les 7 Doigts, without whom, this event would not have been possible.
Until we meet again….
Kathleen Finlay, creator of The Soulƒood.
